And that’s what I blame on my shock mount breaking a block away from home:
Dammit.

you’re funny, guess that mazda rust is new from last night too.
Everyone I know who has/had a mazda 3 has had that happen to them. or the body shock mount just rusted away.
My first and last mazda was a 2003 protege5 that i bought new, got the dealer rust-proofing done, and the car started rusting even under the rust proofing in less than a year.

you made the mistake in buying a mazda living in the rust belt

Every Protege5 I’ve ever seen has rust right about the rear bumper behind the wheel arch. Every. Single. One.

I live in California, so I’ve never known what rust looks like before.

Mayyyybe current. Previous owner (since new) was an older gentleman that babied it and only put 94k on it in 10 years.

Thanks! I need to find some nice 16’s to fit my summer tires. Not putting the crusty 17’s and shit-in-the-rain Yokohama Ascends back on it.

that mount no, but the rest of the car yes.
I live where -40 days (we had over 10 last year)are quite common and the mazdas are still on the road.

So far the only things that have broken on the car are aluminum or rubber. Shock mount, motor mount, axle boot..... Not saying there ISN’T the usual Mazda3 rust, but I will say there is surprisingly little of compared to others of similar vintage.
I try to keep it garaged to keep it that way.

Why not do 15s? Would be faster anyways! Then you could throw some Miata wheels on there.

Won’t fit over the brakes. Already have 16” tires. 15” Miata wheels are 4-lug.

Lol whoops I didn’t notice the extra lug. I figured mazda would use pretty similar wheels on both cars.

Only the NC wheels would work. Shitty thing is, I had a set at my last job that I was going to buy off a guy who I stored them for, but I left, and left the wheels there.

That feel, I know it. This was a bit over a year ago. I think the car had ~250k km on it or so.
It’s easy to change, as I’m sure you know. I actually made a fairly long, hopefully entertaining DIY post for it bit never published it. I’ll put it up now while it’s relevant.

That’s why my 3 is so awesome. No rust!
